• Bus: catch several buses through North Beach; the most famous is the 30, which runs from Union Square. Take a break at Columbus Ave. and Lombard St. from here; it’s a short walk west to Jones St., which is the base of the hill where Lombard St. begins to curve.
• Cable car: the Hyde Street cable car will unload you at the top of the curvy part of the street. The Powell-Mason cable car ceases at Lombard St and Columbus Ave.
