  1. Take a look at the exterior of TCL Chinese Theater and women’s dressing room:

The external of the theater was built to mirror a giant red Chinese pagoda. It shows a Chinese dragon across the facade. There are also two original Ming Dynasty guardian lions at the main entrance as well as silhouettes of tiny dragons along the sides of the copper roof.

At women’s dressing room you can act like a movie star in front of the wrap-around wall of 14 mirrors, and then check out the Iron Gate which concealed a tunnel that ran all the way to the Roosevelt Hotel. See Marilyn Monroe’s gold dress from Gentleman Prefer Blondes (1953). You can also see Judy Garland’s dress from The Wizard of Oz (1939) and Arnold Schwarzenegger’s costume from Terminator 2: Judgment Day (1991).

You will admire the glorious, beaded gown that Grace Kelly wore at the premiere of To Catch a Thief (1955).

  1. Discover the inspiring history of the TCL Chinese Theater:

This mighty movie theater established in May 18, 1927 during an era of extravagant movie palaces. It was built by a group of investors led by Sid Grauman, who had earlier opened the Million Dollar Theater in downtown LA in 1918 and the Egyptian Theater in Hollywood in 1922. Both the theaters are still standing. The opening night at Grauman’s Chinese Theater in 1927 was one of the popular tickets in the town and presented Cecil B. DeMille’s movie The King of Kings. In coming years it became a prominent location for big movie premieres like The Wizard of Oz (1939), Breakfast at Tiffanys (1961) and Star Wars (1977). Graumans Theater has undergone two name changes. The first name change was in 1973 when it was bought by Ted Mann and named Mann’s Chinese Theater but after Mann declared bankruptcy in 2001 it came back to Graumans Theater. In 2013 a Chinese Electronics company bought the naming rights for the theater and it’s now recognized as TCL Chinese Theater. They also transformed it to a state of the art IMAX Theater and it is now the magnanimous IMAX Theater in the world.

In April 2013, the owners of the TCL Chinese Theater disclosed the plans to transform the original theater to an IMAX. The new curved screen measures 94 ft. × 46 ft. used for premieres and screening events of non-IMAX films. To get the most utilisation of the bigger screen and enhanced sightlines, they moved the seats into stepped rows. From street level to the floor of the former basement, the seating configuration lowers. Inside the auditorium are adorned walls and ceilings. These have never been changed even during renovations. On the TCL signage additional lighting was included. The theater was reopened in 2013 with the IMAX 3D version of The Wizard of Oz after all the renovations.
